SELF-ASSESSMENT TAX RETURN ::

    a) Individual and partnership returns
  • Comply with Government taxation requirements & avoid penalties
  • You have to submit returns if you are in business or have income in addition to your employment income (or are employed and a higher rate taxpayer with Bank interest & dividends)
  • If you are requested to submit a Tax return you must do so or give reasons why you are not doing so
  • Businesses making losses? you still need to submit tax returns – you may be able to claim relief for your losses

    b) CAPITAL GAINS TAX is only 18% (after individual exemption of £9,600 for the year ending 5 April 2009).

    c) Company tax returns – CT 600
  • Comply with Government taxation requirements & avoid penalties
  • Every registered Limited Company has to submit Corporation Tax Returns – named CT 600’s
  • Limited Companies pay Corporation Tax, whereas sole-traders & Partners in Partnerships pay Income Tax
  • Making losses – you still need to file your Corporation Tax Return, CT 600 – you may be able to claim loss relief
